Somehow this idea got way out of my comfort zone. All I wanted was
see if anyone wanted to get together for a MID-WINTER gathering. I
was hoping some of you with more experience wouldn't mind showing me
some of your carving techniques while we were sitting around
visiting.
I did reply off list to the person who organized the big event in
Mich last year, and mentioned that coming up with something as
wonderful as what she put together was way way over my head.(I'm 23
yrs old, work FT and go to college FT and have NO experience in
organizing a big event of any kind!) I haven't heard back from her
yet.
I am only working on a simple get-together type gathering to be
somewhere in Michigan about mid-Feburary. If you are interested in
THAT kind of gathering, in THAT kind of location, during THAT time
frame then please email. (enders_angel_80 at yahoo.com)
Please note that I am NOT going to be organizing a big event like
the previous one. I wouldn't know how to begin and I simply don't
have enough time.
I am NOT working on ANYTHING at all related to Illinois Beach State
Park Memorial Day weekend. I am already committed to a trip to
Mexico that weekend.
Sorry if I mislead anyone or if I disappointed anyone.

Enders Angel:
Please do not feel that you've disappointed or misled anyone.
There were several ideas about a gathering in IL in May. Between the
distance from where I live, the timing (we have a critical on-site visit/review at
work in May), and other commitments, I would not be able to help with the
planning of such an event. Perhaps there are other LBers in the Great Lakes areas
that might be able to get things off the ground?
As far as carving is concerned, just jump in and give it a try! I'm not
artistic by a long stretch, so I use clip art, frequently combining many images
together into a new look. Alas, I'll probably never be able to do a free-hand
drawing. Dollar store erasers are a good source of carving medium. They're
inexpensive for practice carvings. And, don't forget that you can turn the
medium over and carve on the other side, too!
Take care, and welcome to LB'ing!

Bindle Bum and I would be interested in attending a mid-winter
simple get-together in Mich next month. Please keep us on your
mailing list, Enders Angel! (grin)
Probably wouldn't be going to something on Memorial Day weekend.
Well, ok ... I take that back. We wouldn't think of missing it ...
if it were held near the marina where our boat is. LOL!
Enjoy!
